HAVE A HEART - GIVE UP SMOKING!

Today I read in a newspaper that 31 May is World Smokefree Day. The theme for 2009 is "Give quiting a go - you can do it!"

On 3 December 2003, an amendment to the Smoke-free Environments Act (SPEA) 1990 was passed in New Zealand. The amendment requires that :
- Buildings and grounds of schools and early childhood centres are smoke free
- Licensed premises (bars, restaurants, cafes, sports clubs, casinos) are smoke free indoors
- Workplaces - including offices, factories, warehouse, work canteens and ‘smoke’ rooms are smoke free
- The display of tobacco products in retail outlets are restricted, and a ‘smoking kills’ sign must be visible near the display
- Herbal smoking products are included in the smoke free requirements
- Access to smoking products to under 18 years old is restricted

These requirements are designed to protect non smokers from second hand smoke. Some of other purpose are to regulate the marketing, advertising and promotion of tobacco products, and to monitor and regulate the presence of harmful constituents in tobacco products and tobacco smoke.

Smoking can cause diseases cardiovascular disease or lung disease. Changes the lifestyle such as exercice, weight management, and stopping smoking can significantly reduce the risk of the disease. So, if you want to have a heart, give up smoking.

INFLUENZA AND A COLD - THE DIFFERENCE

Influenza virus is difference from a cold virus. Influenza is more serious than a common cold. Influenza can leave you ill for up to 10 days. Most people suffer from a high fever, tiredness and may require bed rest. Complication like pneumonia can follow.

Unlike influenza, a cold virus affects only the nose, throat, and upper chest and last for a few days, usually 2-4 days. The cold symptoms are less severe than the influenza symptoms. High fever is less common and shivering attacks and severe headaches are rare. Muscular pains and vomiting are infrequent and the cough is less severe. There is no vaccine available for colds.

Influenza usually causes epidemics every year during the winter months or change the season. Immunisation against influenza is the best protection. But, when should people get vaccinated? Can the vaccination be given to the children? How safe is the vaccine? etc.

SEXY IN HUSBAND'S SHIRT

After reading my friend’s idea about wearing men’s shirt, I decided to do that to impress my hubby. I thought, “is it right that I’ll look sexy in his shirt?” So I, because my friend was wearing a shirt with long sleeves in her picture’s blog, after had taken awhile to decide between short sleeves and long one, I took his long sleeves shirt that he had never used. There I was in my hubby’s long sleeves shirt and my jeans welcoming him as he came home from work.

His reaction was disappointing. He did not even realised it was his shirt! I know he does not like long sleeves shirt, so I changed the shirt with his favourite short sleeves shirt and posed for him. Now, I can see his reaction. He recognised that shirt and asked me if I like it. Of course I do! I was surprise when he said that I looked beautiful and sexy in that shirt. Do I look beautiful and sexy in this shirt? Did he find me beautiful? Me, in this oversize shirt?

There I go.. Woman as usual, don’t believing what my men said when he answered with a compliment.. I realized then, that I was wearing his favourite shirt.

SWINE FLU

Symptoms of swine flu are like regular flu symptoms that includes fever, sore throat, cough, body aches, headache, fatigue, chills. Some people said diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu too.

How it spreads? Similar as a typical seasonal flu does, the virus spreads via coughs, sneezes or touching something with the flu virus on it and then touching their mouth nose or eyes.

The best you can do to stop the spread of any type of influenze virus is :

- stay at home an away from other if you are sick.
- cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, put used
- put used tissue into a rubbish bin
- avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth coz germs spread that way
- be careful to wash hands often with soap and dry them thoroughly. even when you start feeling better there is still a risk of infecting others
- keep surfaces clean at home, school and work.

GETTING STARTED

Cooking is great fun and we've made it easy with our step by step recipes. Before you start, take time to organised. choose your recipe and read it all the way through, then check that you have all the ingredients. collect everything you are going to use - all the ingredient and all the equipment.

If your recipe calls for chopped or shredded ingredients, do this before you begin, also, open any cans and wash any vegetables or fruit. Grease any baking tins or microwave cookware if you need too.

If you need to use the oven for baking, turn it on to the correct temperature before you start the recipe. Arrange the oven shelves at the height you want before turning the oven on. Before you start cooking in the microwave, make sure you know the methods and equipment that you need to know to make every recipe a success.

When you have finished cooking, clean up the kitchen. Put away all the ingredients and the equipment you have used. Wash the dishes, start with washing the least dirty dishes and then work up to the really messy pans. Dry dishes and put them back in their place. Wipe down your work surface with a clean towel.
